Before Your Session

After we schedule your session, we will have a pre-session consultation. This can happen in whatever way is most convenient for you. If you’re having a studio session you may want to come over to look at my space while we get to know each other. Or, if you prefer, we can talk over the phone or via email. At this time I’ll get ask you questions about how you envision your session, any particular shots that are “must haves”, and we’ll discuss clothing. Then, a couple of days before your shoot I will contact you to nail down all the last minute details, and to confirm our location, and to answer any other questions you might have. And we’ll probably discuss clothing again. :)

Your Session

Sessions generally take between 1-2 hours, with newborn sessions taking longer.  Since I know from personal experience how important it is to follow a child’s cues, my photo shoots are never rushed.  We can take snack breaks, diaper changes, or even a cuddle break if your child needs to.  My goal is to capture your child’s personality, so my times with you are fun and relaxed—and oftentimes this entails me playing with them to get them to feel at ease with me! The same holds true for my adult sessions.  I gravitate towards a photojournalistic style—meaning, I want my photos to look authentic or “candid”.  I love to capture real emotion and will take some time to get to know you, so that my camera captures the true essence of who you are.

After Your Session

We will meet back at my studio within 1-2 weeks after your session to have a Viewing and Ordering Session. I have a 42″ TV that will largely display your beautiful photos, and you will make your decision on which photos and products you’d like to order at that time. I have many samples for you to view and touch, to help you decide which products will suit your needs best. You’ll also have the online gallery open for 3 days after your session for any relatives or friends to place their orders. Depending on which products you order, your pictures will generally be ready within 2-3 weeks after you place your order. Please note that a few products do take longer for production.
